Someone has found a video file of the first episode of the American remake of Being Human, and like its British counterpart, it features a werewolf transformation upfront.
How does it compare to the original in that department? Not as good--disappointingly so. The American transformation is choppy, disjointed and lacks the fluidity and length of the British version--you never get the sense of seeing a man directly change shape in front of your eyes. There's even a bizarre head-on shot where he looks like Jabba the Hut. All told, it looks like an uneasy mix of CGI and prosthetics, and we can only hope that future episodes rise to the standards of the original show. Isn't it funny how the British achieve much better results with only half the budget?
