The Wayfinders (Bear Transformations)

Welcome to the spring update! We have 30 posts waiting for you. Thanks to the contributions of our devoted readers we've managed to continue through the TF drought. We're grateful to everyone who sent in suggestions. Now on with the show!

Thanks to ClassyMike and Noodles from our Discord server for finding and recommending these scenes from the fantasy TV series. One its protagonists, Kavan, is "a young warrior cursed to become a werebear." Last year we covered his transformation from the first episode, and now we have two more for you.

From episode three:

...and episode six:

The Presence (Lizard/Sea Monster Transformation)

Thanks to Mr. TF for recommending, through our Discord server, the 1992 TV film The Presence (aka Danger Island), which shows a castaway turning into a reptilian sea monster resembling an anthropomorphic iguana:

Wednesday (Monster Transformations)

Welcome to the end-of-summer update! Our profound thanks once again to everyone who sent in suggestions. Reader participation is why we keep on trucking. On with the update! We have 26 items waiting for you, starting with this post...

The fourth episode of Wednesday's second season shows Tyler transforming twice into his "Hyde" monster form, both during visits from his mother.

The first visit:

And the second:

The second half of the season will air in September and feature a male werewolf. The chances that we'll get a good transformation from him are small, but if one happens we'll post it as a micro-update.

Claymore (Monster and Lion Transformations)

Our thanks to Andréssaurio Rex for his hard work in finding and recommending all the issues and episode numbers used in this lengthy post. This manga/anime is "set on a fictional medieval island where humans are plagued by Yoma, humanoid shape-shifters that feed on humans." The Yoma are hunted, for the protection of humans, by "Claymores," human-Yoma hybrids.

In chapter one the protagonist Raki asks his brother about Yoma and Claymores:

Later on, Raki comes home to find that a Yoma has taken over his brother and killed their family:

And here's the anime version of the scene, from episode one:

Moving on to chpater 26 (vol. 5), a friendly villager turns out to be a Yoma in disguise:

And here's the animated version, from episode 9:

Chapter 42 (Vol. 8) has more Yomas shifting outdoors:

And here's the animated scene, from episode 15:

In the same chapter we see a Yoma torturing a Claymore until both of them turn into monsters:

Here's the anime version, also from episode 15:

In chapters 51 and 52 (Vols. 9 & 10) a "human" with a scarred face turns into a tall white Yoma to attack a town:

The hooded friend of the Yoma also transforms (after taking off his hood off-panel) and goes on the warpath:

Here are both scenes as they were animated for episode 18:

Lastly, in episode 21 the Claymores face a Yoma who can transform into a sexy lion-man (the manga didn't have an onscreen transformation, so I skipped it). The clip runs a little long, so that you can enjoy his lion form:

Coyotl, Hero and Beast (Demon and Coyote Transformations)

Update Time! It's been almost half a year since the last update, so thanks for your patience. The past several months have been one of the most barren periods for transformations since the start of this blog. But we've managed to scrape together 31 items for you, our largest update yet, largely thanks to the contributions of our readers (apologies if we've missed any). We hope there will be a shorter delay before our next update, but in the meantime we encourage you to join our Discord channel, where you can find other people to discuss transformations with and share images and videos on the subject. And now let's proceed with the first post, on Coyotl, Hero and Beast.

***

The hero of this Mexican miniseries gains the power to transform into the mythical Cóyotl, a nagual (spirtually and physically metamorphic figure) from Mesoamerican folklore, and uses his new power to go after the cartels. To be honest, his Coyotl form is something of a letdown (not enough coyote, too many tribal markings).

The two transformation scenes are in episode four, so I've edited them together:

If you care about spoilers you might wish to postpone watching the second clip, from the eighth and final episode. One of the villains transforms into a demon and fights our hero. We also get a little bit of muzzle growth from Coyotl:

The Originals (Wolf Transformation)

This clip has been on my "maybe" list for years, because the camera cuts away right when the transformation gets interesting. But a partial TF is better than none at all, especially in these lean times. The clip is from season two, episode 21 of The Originals. The villain finds a way to forcibly and permanently transform all the werewolves into wolves, including his ex's boyfriend:

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft (Monster Transformation)

Thanks to A.M. Studios for alerting us to this scene from the latest Lara Croft cartoon (episode 7). The  villain absorbs magical stones into his body, which transform him into a monster resembling the pixiu, a monster from Chinese mythology that resembles a winged lion. This clip, assembled from various scenes, includes a reversion at the end:

The Orville (Arachnid/Alien Transformation)

Thanks to MrTF for finding this scene from The Orville (season 3, episode 2). A member of the spaceship crew gets ambushed by an "arachnid," a spider-like alien, and transforms into one:

The Strange Chores (Werewolf Transformation)

Episode 9 of season 3 of this Australian cartoon shows one of the main characters coming down with lycanthropy. Many thanks to Trekoid for obtaining the video!

Ultraseven (Ape Transformation)

Thanks to the anonymous commenter who recommended this video, of episode 44 from the old Japanese TV series broadcast in 1968. The transformation is done in the classic Wolfman style, via dissolves:

Assassination Classroom, Wai Wai Quick Noodles, and The Extant (Monster and Alien , and Age Progression)

My thanks to Ian Ricky for finding and uploading the following clips.

From the Japanese film Assassination Classroom: Graduation (2016), Yanagisawa (Hiroki Narimiya) injects himself with artificial tentacles and turns into a big monster:

Next, a human reveals his true alien self in this commercial for Wai Wai Quick Noodles:

And for those who'd like to see even more skin-shedding, here's an age progression scene from The Extant (S02E03):

Lac-Noir (Werewolf Transformation)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Here are 17 new items for you. They cover Halloween and the month of October, so naturally this update has lots of werewolves in it.

And here's something to be thankful for: a good live-action werewolf transformation accomplished with practical effects!

Lac-Noir is a French-language horror series from Quebec that deals with a community of werewolves. In episode six of the second season a transformation occurs.

The set-up: Jade has accidentally infected her boyfriend Dave with lycanthropy. She is able to repress her wolf side with medication but this isn't an option for Dave, so she comforts him as the full moon rises. Dave's mother waits anxiously outside as the transformation begins:

Many thanks to Noodles on our Discord Server for locating video sources.

There's Something About Movies (Werewolf Transformations)

Our thanks to "Fatwerewolf" for suggesting this video on our Discord server. There's Something About Movies is a British comedy panel show. In the first episode of season four, two panelists recreate the famous transformation scene from An American Werewolf in London. They do a decent job, which raises a question...

If it's possible to achieve such effects on a British panel show, why do so many higher-budget American programs fail at werewolf transformations? Perhaps in the UK practical effects are cheaper than CGI.

Transylvania Rising (Werewolf Transformation)

Welcome to our fall update! 15 new posts await you. The majority are by Kumaguma, so please thank him for keeping this blog alive. Thanks as always to everyone for their suggestions, and apologies if we haven't gotten around to any of yours yet. We're hoping that Halloween will bring more material, so fingers crossed for a November update. In the meantime, enjoy this one!

Thanks to Meaninglez for discovering this video and recommending it on our Discord channel.

Transylvania Rising is an unaired pilot from 2016. Set in 1880, it's about "a young woman in search of her missing father travels to Transylvania, where she teams up with a wrongfully disgraced Scotland Yard Detective and together they witness the births of the most famous monsters and villains in history."

The wolfman is of course involved, and transforms at a masked ball.

Edit: Since the video link died, I decided to get a copy of the program and upload my own edit. The clip also includes a reversion at 01:27. My thanks to the aptly-named ShareContent for supplying the source file on Discord.

Aware Wolf - Mobile Phones (Werewolf Transformation)

Thanks to Reebee on our Discord server for recommending this public service announcement from Australia. No matter where you are, be an Aware Wolf!

The Witcher: Blood Origin (Muscle Growth Transformation)

Thanks to Noodles on our Discord server for recommending a two-stage muscle growth transformation from episode four of this mini-series. Half of the clip is from the end of the last episode, so beware of spoilers. The clip is assembled from three scenes, so apologies for rough transitions.

End of the World (Demon Transformation)

The 2022 Russian TV series End of the World (Konets Sveta / Конец света) features a devil reverting from human disguise to his true form. A pity his devil form isn't more demonic...

Muscle Growth & Body Modification Round-Up

Our thanks to Ian Ricky for recommending the following videos.

The first clip is less about growing muscles than growing a clone. It's from Smallville (S02E09 and S03E09):

Next, a french commercial where a caveman reveals that he has evolved:

Back to muscle growth in an amateur commercial ("Mutant Amino Ad"):

Finally, two animations by Icecypher. First, a muscle growth reversion in "Hulk's Ultimate Attack":

And some muscle growth from Beast Boy:

The Imperfects (Chupacabra Transformation)

Kumaguma with a fall update! I have some more transformations for next month. Thanks for your suggestions and hope you enjoy these scenes.

One of the protagonists in the new Neflix series The Imperfects is a young man named Juan (played by Iñaki Godoy) who can turn into a Chupacabra (it looks like a werewolf with spikes). The series didn't give us a full transformation scene, so I've put together a clip of scenes from episodes one, six, and ten.

Muscle Growth Round-Up (Muscle Growth, Monster, and Centaur Transformations)

Our thanks to Ian Ricky for providing all but one of these clips!

From the Hong Kong comedy film Tricky Brains (1991): Chi Man Kit (Andy Lau) is seized by villains and forced to drink a whole bottle of "irresistible aphrodisiac." The overdose causes him to become incredibly strong and muscular:

***

From the Japanese film Kaiju Mono (2016): to combat a kaiju, Dr Saigo injects his assistant Nitta with a formula that turns him into a muscular giant. After an unsuccessful battle with the kaiju, Dr. Saig injects more formula into Nitta, tuning him into an older and more sinister giant.

00:36 1st Form Transformation.  03:17 1st Form Revert.  04:00 1st Form Transformation.  05:52 1st Form Transformation. 08:35 2nd Form Transformation. 10:12 2nd Form Revert.

***

A Thai commercial for "Zeen Better Vision":

***

A commercial for online shopping from Lazada Việt Nam:

***

From Smallville (Season 2, Episode 11, "Nocturne"): Byron Moore (Sean Faris) develops monstrous side effects from drugs he was given to alter his behavior. When exposed to sunlight his body changes, as his blood vessels and muscles thicken:

***

The German music video "Nicht die Musik" by Felix Kummer, features gradual muscle growth:

***

From the Filipino TV series Wansapanataym (Episode 170, "The Incredible Chuck"): A boy gains the ability to become a hulk after being electrocuted.

***

Our thanks to Kevrai for finding this hulk-out scene from the Indonesian TV show Si Entong Abunawas Dari Betawi 2. This is from episode 17. Kevrai says he hasn't been able to find full episode and there might be a reversion later on.

***

Here's a red Hulk from a Dutch Fruit-tella commercial:

Ian R. has assembled a compilation of scenes from episodes 91, 112, 113, 114, 115, 117, 120, and 121 of the anime Hunter X Hunter. It features the character Menthuthuyoupi, who undergoes a series of freaky transformations. Unfortunately YouTube is not allowing the clip to display when embedded, so here is a link to the video, which includes time stamps.
