Hotel Transylvania: Transformania (Dragon/Monster Transformation)

Welcome to the Winter Update! Our thanks once again to all the readers who have sent in suggestions and comments. Your support is deeply appreciated. On with the update...

Computer animation has a poor record with transformations. Traditional animation has done very well with transformation scenes, but computer animation tends to skip or elide them. Presumably this has something to do with technological and budget limitations, but in any case there have been very few memorable transformation scenes in a computer-animated cartoon feature. Hotel Transylvania: Transformania is the exception to the rule.

According to Amazon, Transformania is "#1 streaming movie in America," so you might already have seen it. But if you just want to watch all the transformation scenes, a YouTube channel called The Male Muscle Growth Archives has helpfully uploaded them.

Let's start with human character Johnny transforming into a dragon-like monster:

Next, the monster characters turn human, and we see Johnny briefly go more demonic:

Johnny gets angry and grows bigger and more monstrous:

There's also a disappointing reversion scene, but it does show Johnny in Godzilla form.

Macbeth with Dinosaurs (Human Transformation)

Siward, the dinosaur star of this Adult Swim cartoon, gets bitten by a (human) dad and transforms into a "were-dad" (technically "dino-dad"). Then another dinosaur and a monster character get transformed. Before the end they all transform back to their normal dinosaur selves

Resident Alien (Alien-to-Human Transformation)

Thanks to Noodles and Ian Ricky for recommending this clip from episode 1. An alien crash lands on Earth and disguises himself as a human by assuming the identity of a doctor he murdered:

Jem and the Holograms (Monster Reversion)

From the episode "Beauty and the Rock Promoter" (Season 3, Ep. 4)--Jem appears in a musical of Beauty and the Beast. Her caterwauling succeeds in breaking the beast's curse and turning him back into a human:

Wild Thornberrys (Human Reversion)

In the episode "Gift of Gab," Eliza meets and frees a warthog caught in a bear trap. The warthog then reveals his true form, that of a shaman:

Size Matters & Bonus (Muscle Growth Transformations)

My thanks to Featherwolf for finding this clip from episode one of the BBC program Size Matters, which examines what humans might look like if they evolved to giant size:

As a related bonus, here is a short muscle growth video:

"Hulkverines" and "Everafter" (Muscle Growth, Monster, Hulk, & Chupacabra Transformations)

In Hulkverines #1 the Hulkverine hunts the Hulk. They transform into their monster forms to have a tussle:

Let's move on to a somewhat different comic, Everafter: From the Pages of Fables. One of the main characters, Conner Wolf, is a shapeshifter, and in issue 12 he takes on three forms.
First, he reverts from a different (and less attractive) male human form to his own:

Next he turns into a chupacabra:

Lastly, there's an image of him as a wolfman on the final page:

Titans (Tiger-to-Human Transformation)

As predicted, Titans gave us another scene of Beast Boy reverting from a tiger to a very naked human. It's from episode 7:

The reversion is decent but much too fast and dark, so I've slowed down and brightened the video:

"Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur"and (Dinosaur and Godzilla/Monster Transformations & Reversions)

Two Marvel comics involving reptiles...

A scientific expeirment gone wrong causes a Tyrannosaurus Rex to become a human boy in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #33:

And from New Avengers (Vol.4, # 09) the story "American Kaiju." The American military injects a soldier with a gamma-enhanced cocktail of mutant growth hormones and the serum used by the Lizard from Spider-Man comics. The result? An all-American Godzilla!

Alas, he's cured in the next issue:

Scooby Apocalypse (Humanoid Transformation)

Like freaky transformations? Then enjoy this issue of Scooby Apocalypse, which features everyone's "favorite" character Scrappy Doo morphing into a more humanoid form thanks to nano-machines:

Titans (Tiger Reversion Transformation)

I suspect everyone's already seen this, but in case some readers have been living under a rock...
The first episode of the live-action comic-book show Titans features Beast Boy reverting from a tiger to a very naked human:

Some nerds are upset by this because in the comics Beast Boy's transformations are clothed and super-quick, but I will take a slow, painful, and nude transformation anytime. Ryan Potter, the actor playing Beast Boy, is definitely a cutie. That said, I doubt the show's later TF scenes will be slow and clothes-free.

Tai Chi Chasers (Monster Reversion)

Daymon here, with a reversion scene from episode 20 of Tai Chi Chasers--a draconic monster returns back to his human form:

Tiger Beer and Winner Taco Commercials (Multiple Transformations)

Daymon here, with multiple transformations from the following beer commercial:

As a bonus, here's the well-known (to TF fans) Winner Taco commercial. Normally we refrain from posting material that's already at Shadowlord Inc., but since this copy has superior visual quality we've make an exception. Our thanks to Antony for finding and recommending this copy:

Tu mourras moins bête (Age Progression)

Daymon here with a suggestion from an anonymous commenter for an online french Edutainment series called Tu mourras moins bête, which has an age progression scene in the episode "Pourquoi les ados sont-ils si mous?". The video doesn't allow embedding, so watch it here.

Amazing World of Gumball (Human Reversion)

By Daymon

Our thanks to The Ultimate Crusader for suggesting this unique transformation scene from the Amazing World of Gumball episode, "The Line," where the family horrifically transforms into a WASP-ish nuclear family while wholesome songs are played:
