Bhediya (Werewolf Transformation)

Welcome to our last update of 2022! We hope you've had a very Merry Christmas and wish you an even merrier 2023. We have 19 new items for you to ring in the New Year with. We finished this update away from home, so bear with any technical difficulties. We also had to postpone a few items, so stay tuned in 2023. On with the update!

The biggest transformation news of the season involved the Indian horror-comedy film Bhediya, which features two werewolf transformations. Our thanks to SurprisedAlpha for this video compilation:

Untitled from SurprisedAlpha on Vimeo.

Since the film is still in theaters, we'll have to wait a while for a true HD video that shows the entire image, since the circulating unofficial videos tend to be cropped. Here's an alternative video of the second transformation, which is less cropped in some areas, including the part with muzzle growth:

The Witcher: Blood Origin (Muscle Growth Transformation)

Thanks to Noodles on our Discord server for recommending a two-stage muscle growth transformation from episode four of this mini-series. Half of the clip is from the end of the last episode, so beware of spoilers. The clip is assembled from three scenes, so apologies for rough transitions.

The Dark Room (Werewolf Transformation)

A graphic novel with a zombie-versus-werewolf scene (art by Scott Buoncristiano):

And here's a reversion:

Callisto Protocol (Alien Monster Transformation)

Over the course of this video game Leon Ferris, an antagonistic prison guard exposed to a Biophage Pathogen, transforms gradually, and then suddenly, into an alien monster:

End of the World (Demon Transformation)

The 2022 Russian TV series End of the World (Konets Sveta / Конец света) features a devil reverting from human disguise to his true form. A pity his devil form isn't more demonic...

MIA and Cats (Monster Transformation)

In this 2D animated short a wounded soldier goes MIA and hides out with a cat. But a black liquid is oozing across the battle zone, transforming every soldier it touches...

Crypt of Shadows (Spider Reversion & Werewolf Transformations)

This horror anthology from Marvel comics starts with Werewolf by Night entering a mansion, where he transforms after encountering a werewolf butler (art by Geoff Shaw):

A later story (art by Ibrahim Moustafa) features Spider-Man reverting from Man-Spider to human form:

Cuphead (Demon to Human Transformation)

Thanks to an anonymous commenter for recommending this devil-to-Santa Claus transformation from Cuphead (season 3, episode 6):

Winx Club & Beano (Werewolf Transformations)

The first group of scans is from issue 13 of the Portuguese-language comic O Clube das Winx. I don't know if it's a translation of an English original.

The girls come across a blue-haired stranger who hides a secret...

Moving to the very different world of British children's comics, here are some gag pages from Beano.

From issue 4008 (Oct. 23, 2019):

And issue 4158 (Oct. 19, 2022):

Inside Job (Age Regression and Progression)

In episode 12 ("Whoas-Feratu") Randal tries to make a movie to outshine Keanu Reeves while wooing his ex-wife. During production, he take a youth serum but ages down to a baby. He turns back to normal in time to save his daughter and former lover from a legion of vampires:

Motionless in White -- "Werewolf" (Werewolf Transformation)

A "metalcore" music video whose title is self-explanatory:

Archie's Weird Mysteries & Happy Horror Days (Sasquatch and Werewolf Transformations)

Archie's Weird Mysteries #10 (art by Fernando Ruiz) presents the origin story of a Sasquatch:

Continuing into the world of Archie spinoffs, the one-off Happy Horror Days has a story featuring the werewolf version of Jughead, which we've covered frequently on this blog (see our posts on Jughead: The Hunger issue one, issue two, issue three, issue six, issues nine & twelve, issue thirteen, and Vs Vampironica).

Line art by Joe Eisma:

Urusei Yatsura 2022 (Tiger Alien Transformation)

The ninth episode of the 2022 remake of Urusei Yatsura features Lum's ex-fiance, Rei, who's still trying to convince her to marry him. She refuses and he transforms into a alien-tiger-monster, which reminds her why she broke up with him:

Animorphs GN: The Encounter (Hawk Transformations & Wolf Reversions)

The third Animorphs graphic novel (art by Chris Grine), has fewer male character transformations than volumes one and two. In the following images the protagonists quickly turn into wolves but have trouble changing back:

Near the end our heroes turn into hawks after falling out of a space ship:

Doochi and Pookie (Werewolf Transformation)

Doochi and Pookie (두치와 뿌꾸) is a South Korean cartoon from 1996 that features a cast of classic monsters, including a werewolf. His origin story is told in episode 5:

In the Moonlit Inn & Bonus (Monster Transformations)

Here's a rarity--a film from Myanmar (Burma). It's called In the Moonlit Inn (လေရာင္ျဖာတဲ့ အင္းေလးမွာ) and has, from what I can tell, a plot involving identical twins, one of whom transforms into a monster under the full moon. Unfortunately we don't see his face transform:

He reverts later on, but we only see his hand turn human.

And here's a bonus, a reptilian monster transformation from an unknown film or TV show (anyone know which one?), recommended by Noodles on our Discord server:

Shinbi Apartment (Demon & Werewolf Transformations)

Our thanks to Trịnh X. on our Discord Server for recommending several clips from the South Korean anime Shinbi Apartment (신비아파트), aka The Haunted House. Each sub-season of the show has a different name, as you'll see below.

The first clip is from the 10th episode of Ghost Ball Double X: Suspicious Quest (the second part of season 3). An amateur superhero becomes possessed by his magical mask and is transformed into a wolf demon. His possession starts at the very beginning of this clip:

Next, a two stage werewolf  transformation from the sixth episode of Ghost Ball Z: Ghost Exorcist (the second part of season four). Stage one:

And stage two:

If anyone knows of other transformations in this series, leave a comment!

Muscle Growth & Body Modification Round-Up

Our thanks to Ian Ricky for recommending the following videos.

The first clip is less about growing muscles than growing a clone. It's from Smallville (S02E09 and S03E09):

Next, a french commercial where a caveman reveals that he has evolved:

Back to muscle growth in an amateur commercial ("Mutant Amino Ad"):

Finally, two animations by Icecypher. First, a muscle growth reversion in "Hulk's Ultimate Attack":

And some muscle growth from Beast Boy:

Werewoofs & Tales From the Crypt (Werewolf Transformations)

Some werewolf reversion scenes from Werewoofs, a graphic novel about weredogs (art by Val Wise):

Moving onto the 2017 graphic novel Tales From the Crypt, here's a scene from "The Werewolf of Wall Street" (art by John McCrea):
