The Tale of the Outcasts (Dragon Transformation and Muscle Growth)

Welcome to the Summer Update! We skipped Spring, so thank you for your patience and suggestions. Please enjoy the 32 items we've gathered for you, with the help of readers and friends. As always, we're eager to hear your comments.

In episode 7, Sitri the dragon tries to make a contract with Wisteria but ends up failing and transforms to his true form to defend himself:

And in epsiode 13 the wolfman Naberius undergoes a muscle growth transformation. Our thanks to Ian Ricky for providing this clip:

Gene Kong (Ape Transformation)

This French comic by Pepe Moreno is about a man on the dangerous streets of 1980s New York who injects himself with a gorilla-derived serum that turns him into an ape (he resembles a hairless gorilla). As the cover says, "In the jungle of New York, it takes a monster to survive."

On the subway he makes the aquaintance of a young woman. A pair of thugs assault them, which triggers his transformation:

He transforms again when another set of thugs kidnap him:

As it turns out, being a violent apeman can make you popular in New York:

Alas, Gene Kong goes the way of King in the end...

Hell's Paradise (Female to Male Transformation)

In episode 7, the Chobei brothers interupt two nymphs who were about to get it on. One of them changes her sex in anger:

"War for the Planet of the Apes" Promo (Ape Transformation)

Thanks to an anonymous reader for recommending this promotional clip made for War of the Planet Apes, which shows Andy Serkis's face transforming into a chimpanzee's:

Mashle: Magic and Muscles (Shark and Monster Transformations)

In episode 7, a pair of wizards attack. The larger wizard traps one of the protagonists in a water dimension and transforms into a shark to go in for the kill. But he might have bitten off more than he can chew:

High Moon: Bullet Holes and Bite Marks (Werewolf, Bat and Demon Transformations)

High Moon was one of the first professionally produced webcomics. We covered it many years ago, but it's now been collected in the graphic novel Bullet Holes and Bite Marks (art by Steve Ellis), which is a good reason to showcase the opening chapters.

The comic opens in old west Texas, with bounty hunter Macgregor tracking down wanted man Eddie Conroy (seen in the wanted poster):

Two more pictures of the characters in human form, starting with Macgregor:

And Conroy, the werewolf:

Conroy turns out not to be the villain of the series, as we see when he encounters a pair of bat demons:

Conroy's hanging is interupted by Macgregor. As the pair fight the demons, it's revealed that Macgregor is also a werewolf (he becomes a demonic looking one):

Macgregor doesn't survive his ordeal, but Conroy does, and he assumes Macgregor's name. Later on he confronts another werewolf:

In the later chapters we get a brief glimpse of Conory wolfing out:

And a flashback to when he was first bitten:

Lastly, there's a scene of Conroy picking up a hammer and transforming into a demonic werewolf as he attacks a demon:

Zenderman & Wolf Guy (Werewolf Transformations)

Episode 45 of the anime Zenderman, which ran from 1979-80, features a werewolf:

Wolf Guy, despite its title and premise, was a disappointing OVA series. Episode 5 features a very brief werewolf transformation and a slightly longer reversion. If the cue doesn't work, the TF is at 24:06 and the reversion at 25:10:

Sammy (Chimpanzee Transformation)

In Volume 33 of this French comic (by "Jean-Paul et Cauvin) the hero accidentally drinks a concoction that starts turning him into a chimpanzee:

Later on...

The Marginal Service (Monster and Lizard Transformations)

In the first episode, the senior and newbie cops encounter a Borderlander who's seemingly beaten into submssion:

The second episode has the team in the jungle looking for an illegal drug operation--they're captured at gunpoint by the bad guys, who show their true forms:

The Incredible Hulk (Muscle Growth and Hulk Transformations)

The first issue of the latest comic reboot ends with Bruce Banner on the run and then cornered by the police (art by Nic Klein):

Monster Loving Maniacs & Kedama no Gonjiro (Werewolf Transformations)

Our thanks to an anonymous reader who recommended the following werewolf clips.

An IT guy transforms in episode 25 of Monster Loving Maniacs:

And in episode 20 of Kedama no Gonjiro the hairball Gonjiro turns canine during the full moon:

Joe Giant (Monster Transformation)

Our thanks to Chips493 on our Discord server for recommending this pilot video, which shows a high schooler transforming into a big blue monster:

Spongebob Squarepants (Monster/Zombie Transformations)

Our thanks to an anonymous reader who recommended the episode "Krabby Patty Creature Feature" (season 11, ep. 7), in which multiple characters are turned into hamburger zombie monsters.

(The transformations last from 1:20 to 4:10)

The Full Moon Has Risen & The Pack Calls (Werewolf Transformations)

Noodles, a friend from our Discord Server, has recently taken up digital animation and made terrific progress. Here's the evidence. The embedded video is from Streanable but you can also view (and favorite) the video at Furaffinity.

And if you'd like more, here's an earlier video on the same theme, "The Pack Calls":

Creepy Past (Monster Transformations)

Creepy Past is an Italian comic but these scans are in French. The story involves a teenager tormented by tinnitus who eventually transforms into a monster.

In Volume 5 (art by Roberto Di Salvo) we see his face transform:

In Vol. 6 he fully transforms after a scientist attempts to cure him (art by Giovanni Rigano):

And in volume 2 (art by Federico Nardo) another character turns into a monster and attacks our hero, causing him to transform too:
