Twice as Shy (Werewolf Transformation)

Thanks to Classymike for letting us know that this charming independent short is now on Youtube.

The transformation starts around 7:08, though the whole film is worth watching for those who enjoy human-werewolf romance (who doesn't?).

Update Time and Growing Pains (Werewolf Transformation)

Time for the June update! My apologies for having kept everyone waiting. To be honest, it has gotten harder for me to find material that makes the grade, but fortunately Daymon and many of our readers have stepped up to keep the blog running. And speaking of updates, I should note that Shadowlord Inc. has just updated too. As for this site, we have 10 new items, which we hope you will enjoy:

Readers have heard me rave twice about Growing Pains, the Danish animated short about a teenaged boy who turns into a werewolf whenever he gets aroused. The film has been available for rental and I've encouraged folks to view it that way, but recently Daymon and I discovered it's been freely available on Vimeo for two years. The upload looks like it was done by someone affiliated with the film and it's been online for a while, so we assume it's legitimate. Here is the link. The transformations occur at the 4:21, 11:17, 13:08, and 17:15 (note: these times refer to an older video link that we had to replace--they might not correspond exactly to the new video).

As I wrote a few years ago, Growing Pains "is funny, unsettling, kinky, and has something valuable to say about the harm of sexual repression and the need to release one's inner beast. Werewolves have often been seen as metaphors for out-of-control sexual urges, puberty, and even erections (after all, in transformation scenes the body grows like a monstrous penis). Many werewolf films have tried to make use of those metaphors--Growing Pains is the first to successfully employ all of them."

Ben 10 and Regular Show (Werewolf Transformations)

I hereby present three lycanthropic bon-bons...

* From the 40,000th reboot of Ben10, here's a clip from episode 15, "The Beast Inside." Supervillain Dr. Amino turns into wolf with tentacles (you heard me). Sadly, no muzzle growth shown:

* Here's a quick werewolf TF from The Regular Show episode "Terror Tales of The Park V":

Wounded (Werewolf Transformation)

Wounded is a handsome and well-made short film about a raid gone wrong and a suspect gone lycanthopic. Subtle use is made of the limited-budget special effects.

Growing Pains--Available for Viewing!

Growing Pains is a Danish short film about a teenaged boy who turns into a werewolf whenever he gets sexually aroused (you can see the trailer here). I discussed it a while back, and now I can report that it's available for rental, at this page.

The rental price is low ($3.40), and the film is more than worth it. Actually it's terrific--the first non-disappointing werewolf movie in years. It's even better than expected, and has three transformation scenes! The first alone is worth the price of rental, and the movie is funny, unsettling, kinky, and has something valuable to say about the harm of sexual repression and the need to release one's inner beast.

Werewolves have often been seen as metaphors for out-of-control sexual urges, puberty, and even erections (in transformation scenes the body grows like a monstrous penis). Many werewolf films have tried to make use of those metaphors--Growing Pains is the first to successfully employ all of them.

This is an independent movie and needs all the support it can get. I highly recommend renting Growing Pains.

Life (Age Progression)

 (Originally found at Visible Time.)
Life is a short film by Audrey Schebat; it shows a baby progressing to adolescence, adulthood, old age and death within a single shot. Though made in 2001, the morphing between the different models still works, though I think the childhood section is the smoothest and best (perhaps because the child actors look more alike).

Growing Pains (Werewolf Transformation)

Here's an exciting work-in-progress. Growing Pains is a Danish animated short about a teenaged boy who turns into a werewolf whenever he gets horny. Being a teenager in love, this happens quite often! The short isn't finished yet, but the teaser looks like heaven for transformation fans:

The werewolf-as-puberty metaphor is frequently mentioned, but very few films, aside from Ginger Snaps, have really explored the idea. John Landis (director of An American Werewolf in London) has also suggested that the werewolf transformation is an erection metaphor, and Growing Pains seems to agree.

We hope Growing Pains will be a great success. To keep tabs on the production, go to its website.

The Lycanthrope (Werewolf Transformation)

One of the great explorers of werewolf lore is someone known only as "Dig," who posts semi-regularly at the Werewolf Cafe with fantastic news of werewolf-related movies and TV shows no one else has heard of. His latest scoop involves a short amateur film, and as Dig says, it's "amazing what you can do with a very small budget." The Lycanthrope was made way back in 1990, but its homemade prosthetics put most modern Hollywood FX to shame.

Bad Moon Rising (Werewolf Transformation)

Bad Moon Rising is a short film from Australia now making the rounds of film festivals.
The premise: "During a bruising interrogation, a young man waits till moon rise to turn the tables on his captors." A one minute excerpt is online, and I have to say that for a short independent film the special effects are very good. The director has plans to expand his short into a feature film. We wish him the best of luck.

Howling Brat (Werewolf Transformation)

A short post: here's a little film with a young werewolf. Low budget and not a lot of process, but charming.
