Tussen Jou en Mij, Poison Kiss, & Quickie 8 (Age Regression and Progression)

These three items all involve age transformations. First, an anonymous reader recommends the Dutch music video "Tussen Jou en Mij," which has some animated age regression toward the end:

Next, Ian Ricky has found an age progresion scene from the live action Chinese film Poison Kiss (1992, 毒吻). Ian provides a description: "A son was born from a chemical factory worker couple who died. The son has highly poisonous saliva, but also suffers from gigantism due to environmental pollution and grows up rapidly whenever there's a thunderstorm. He goes from a baby to a toddler, a child, and a young man. The surface of his body grows extremely poisonous and kills whatever touches it. In the end, he's struck by lightning and disappears..."

This scene from Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko: Sa Ilalim ng Buwan (episode 140?) features a wolfman turning into a wolf (at :0:41) and the wolfman reverting to human form (at 01:10). Be warned, this is Filipino TV and has bargain basement special effects.

Falling In Reverse - Popular Monster (Werewolf Transformation)

Kumaguma here with another werewolf transformation from a music video. This comes from the band Falling In Reverse, for their song "Popular Monster." After being chased throughout a building by gunmen, he is cornered and transforms into the wolfish beast and then massacres his assailants. The transformation happens at 3:07:

"Something Human" and "Legacies" (Werewolf Transformations)

Two unrelated werewolf transformations are grouped together because neither was strong enough on its own...

First, a music video for the band Muse and its song "Something Human." I have no idea what's going on but there is some lycanthropy:





Second, a werewolf metamorphosis from the first episode of Legacies. It has the same problem as the werewolf transformations on its parent shows,The Vampire Diaries and The Originals: a great build-up but no follow-through. Right when the transformation starts to get juicy they cut to a fully-morphed wolf. Grrrrr!
Anyway, the video is cued to 00:58--keep watching up to 1:05 and then skip ahead to 1:42.




I suppose shows like Legacies skimp on werewolf metamorphoses because they're expensive. But let's remember that the original British series of Being Human was so low-budget it couldn't afford CGI and yet had some of the best werewolf transformations ever made for TV. Some fox hunters get their just desserts in this animated music video. Alas, only partial transformations.

Panic at the Disco: "Emperor's New Clothes" (Demon Transformation)

Thanks to the anonymous reader who suggested featuring this music video and wrote "the whole video is basically an artsy demon transformation." Indeed, and the make-up is pretty impressive.

Kamen Rider Shin and a Body Horror Bonus (Monster/Insect Transformation)

I don't know anything about this aside from the fact that it's very well done and has more body horror than the usual Kamen Rider fare.





While we're on the topic of body horror, an anonymous reader suggested posting the music video for "Fantasy" by DyE. I've cued it to when the fun starts. Squeamish people probably shouldn't watch.

Wolf Boy (Werewolf Transfomation)

An anonymous reader suggested posting "Wolf Boy," an animated music video for a Tasmanian band called The Phibes. As far as I know neither Dutch Bull or Dragoniade have featured it so I will, because the transformation is something of a classic.The animation consists of cleverly joined paper cut-outs, which have a charmingly homemade look:

Werewolf Video Round-Up!

In the months since I last updated, I've found several werewolf transformations videos floating around the web...

Creature Feature: I'm guessing the artist is an animation student. If so, I'm glad he chose this subject for his assignment. There are good close-ups of the hand and face transforming--I wish there was some clothes-ripping too, but I guess that's too time-consuming and difficult with solo computer animation.






Wolves: William Wei is a Taiwanese rock star--last spring he released a song called "Wolves," whose music video shows him turning into a werewolf. The transformation starts off well with some very smooth CGI, but ends way too early. His final form looks too much like a Teen Wolf version of a werewolf--a face mask with fake ears and teeth.






Werewolf Spotlight: this is rather unusual--a silhouette transformation. Normally I wouldn't feature that sort of thing, but I liked the level of detail, along with the sound effects.






Friends: a short about relationships gone monstrously wrong...
There are actually two transformations in the video, both fluidly rendered via the sketchy art style.






Full Moon: I'm cheating by including this last video (when you see the end you'll understand why), but it's cute and funny, and well-drawn.

Blind Pilots (Satyr/Goat Transformation)

Today's video is a transformation classic...which is why I was reluctant to post it, since I assume lots of TF fans are already familiar with the music video of "Blind Pilots," a song by the band Cooper Temple Clause. And so they are, but they've made multiple requests to re-see it, so I've decided to post "Blind Pilots."

 This gloriously idiosyncratic video starts with a bloke stepping out for his bachelor party. Before he does, his fiancee places a necklace (with a bell talisman) on him. The bachelor party devolves into a drunken mess, and the talisman turns the would-be groom into a real satyr. Reveling in booze and girls, this latter-day Pan doesn't notice the continuing effects of the talisman until it's too late and he turns into a complete party animal...



It's a terrific concept joined with fluid special effects (an excellent melding of CGI and prosthetics), a good-looking guy, and classical mythology. The guy happens to be none other than a pre-fame Michael Fassbender, which unfortunately means a bimbo-load of fangirls have left heaps of idiotic comments displaying their ignorance of even basic mythology. "Blind Pilots" is hardly difficult to understand or even that strange; it's a moralistic allegory. The groom acts like a self-centered boor, breaks the trust of his friends and future wife, and becomes a party god. And while that might look cool for a while, acting like an animal has its consequences...

Moonspell: "Licanthrope" (Werewolf Transformation)

According to wikipedia, Moonspell is a Portuguese heavy metal band (I didn't know there were any!). In their music video for "Licanthrope" (sic), the lead singer is shown turning into a werewolf (why doesn't that happen more often in music videos?). The transformation is a combination of prothestics (the foot turning into a paw) and cgi (the back ridging). Unfortunately, the design and make-up of the fully-transformed werewolf is a disappointment.

Waking the Demon (Werewolf Transformation)

Sorry for the delay folks, but I'm back! First up, here's a little music video called "Waking the Demon." The werewolf looks rather dorky, and the TF is pretty short, but buggers can't be choosers.
