I'm a bit late in posting this one (which is especially galling since I was aware of this TF a week before it aired), but here's an ape transformation from the "Terror on Dinosaur Island" episode of
Batman: The Brave and the Bold. The villain Gorilla Grodd is attempting to transform men into gorillas, but his first victim doesn't make it all the way into gorilla-hood. It's really more of a muscle-expansion/clothes bursting transformation than an animal one, but that's all the TF we get. Watch it

Batman: the Animated Series, the landmark cartoon that proved Americans could match the Japanese.
