From what I can tell, Fantaghiro: The Cave of the Golden Rose is a fantasy miniseries. Its antihero is in love with the heroine but has nasty problem--every time he tries to kiss her he turns into a monster. (He looks something like a cross between an ogre and the wolfman.) The TF is mostly facial but relatively detailed.

They should make more transformations like this only they should just do the face and neck inflating bladders effects.
